[preview-latex-devel] Build Patch Integration?

some time ago David sent me a patch to make the build process under
Windows work. There were problems with compiling the .elc files with
"make install" in a MinGW MSys bash.
It seems that they are not integrated yet into the build.
Uh, what? What I sent you was, as far as I remember, directly taken
from the CVS archive. So it should be integrated into the build quite
perfectly. Did you experience any problems with the current CVS
version? If you mean to say that it is not integrated in the last
_released_ version, this is hardly surprising, since it was _that_
version that you were having the problem with in the first place.
Regarding this topic, I got some mail of a reader of my "LaTeX
environment installation for Windows" guide.
Now I would like to know if you plan a release containing this patch
in near future or I better refer to the patch in my guide.
We have a few changes to get done in the AUCTeX build process which
need to get synchronized with preview-latex. My guess is that we
might release something maybe some time next week unless somebody
surprises me by tackling all remaining issues before that time, in
which case I might feel guilty enough to roll a release before that.

The general code in preview-latex should be ready for prime time
(there is the possibility to accelerate image loading by using a
direct path, but that is a minor detail), but the installation process
is pending a few changes. They are pretty much planned through, but
need to get actually implemented and documented for the user. And
some of the icons might still get polished, but that is probably not
necessarily release-critical, I'd say. I don't have really time to
spare this week myself, I am afraid, since I need to get some papers
and representations done.
